Karri, Marri, Jarrah, Tuart, Tingle… how many more?
The start of a national park day is a good start from Boranup. On the way to Danmark we stopped in Beedelup NP with Karri trees that grow in a great valley. I felt like a gnome. I was dazzled to see that there is quite a bit of rainfall here, but still that dry that fires are a hazard at all times. In Warren NP I climbed the Bicentennial Tree which was a former fire look out. 75 meters tall and many steps to climb, the tree offers an overview on the national park packed with other tall Karri trees. This one I suggest everyone to undertake, unless you fear hights š
In Danmark we found the perfect spot to camp. On a peninsula where the river mouth ends up in the ocean surrounded by cliffs and secluded beaches. I must say that I couldnāt stop taking photos of the trees, sunsets and sunrises.
But really, if you want to feel like a pixie, then Walpole NP is the place to be. With Grandma Tingle and many other Tingle trees this is the only remaning place with giant trees. The government was so nice to make a tree top walk and valley walk to enjoy the beauty of the forest which encompasses trees of hundreds of years old. As you see on the photo these species are even taller than the Karri trees reaching up to 85 metres! Unfortunately this treasure is now being threatened by a fungus, but thanks to the many conservation efforts the forest has been saved so far. So the disgusting carvings of people on the barks of trees with slogans like, āI was hereā are not helping at all. Honestly I hope these people will be crushed by a tree in their life time so we get rid of such people from our planet.
